THE 4TH OF JULY
The 4th of July has traditionally been set
for Lively families to meet and 'chew the fat'.

In 1929, eight brothers - Greene, Mark and Jim
Charlie, Fred, Bert, Watson and Kip
along with their sister Ruth, agreed
each year with their families to lead
them to get re-acquainted with each other
and to know the children of each brother.

When Jim died he left us this little piece of land
where wild flowers and mountain laurel grow in a stand.
It has a swimming hole, a fishing pond, bar-b-que pit
and for visiting a screen pavilion in which to sit.
What a truly great gift he gave to us to share,
so wonderful we need to really appreciate and care
how we enjoy it and what we leave for others
that will come after us and our brothers.

Louis, Ashton, Evelyn, Q.U., Van, Keely, Hugh Miller
Juliette, Attalee, Sevena, Octama, Yonce and Katy Bly.
Their families seem to attend and care so much more
than the other cousins who don't often show
for our reunion, time after time, year after year.
The don't seem to realize what is precious and dear.

We need to leave strong traditions for our children
making sure they know how priceless is our freedom,
and the right to walk in this peaceful wooded land
that has to us been handed down from man to man,
having first been created by God above
for us to respect, enjoy and use with love.
