THE TRUE CITIZEN, Friday, July 11, 1930

The family of the late Mr., and Mrs. G.P. Lively, consisting of the following sons, Messrs. Mark, Fred, Green, Charlie, Jim, Leonard, Bert and Watson Lively; and daughter, Mrs. Ruth Lively Bateman; and their families composed of fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, children and grandchildren - numbering around fifty enjoyed a delightful family reunion on the fourth of July.

A good old-fashioned barbecue dinner was served from a long table built under the oaks at the home of Mr. J.T. Lively, after which auto parties were formed for the old Lively plantation to view against the old familiar scenes of childhood.

The party stopped at Old Bottsford Church. This historical old church was the first with which the older members of the family had affiliated. There, sitting on the steps of this old church which is still making history, kodaking and short addressers were enjoyed. Among these little Alsie Imor Bateman read a composition on "Prohibition." which she had written and had been awarded first prize by the Sigley Union, of the W.C.T.U.(Women's Christian Temperance Union), at Augusta. In brief, it was the life story of her maternal grandfather, George Pierce Lively. The day passed so delightfully that it was voted an annual affair.
